Banyan Coffee and Tea Company - St Petersburg, FL

My family and I made our way over to the Banyan Coffee and Tea Company in downtown St Pete. I have been wanting to try this for awhile, and I have to say I was glad we made it over this last Saturday morning. First off, the decor inside is very charming and comfortable and I love the long fans hanging from the ceiling. For seating, we could sit at the bar, at some small tables, a booth, or outside on the sidewalk.

We placed our order at the counter. For drinks we ordered the cappuccino, which came in a nice big mug and was deliciously smooth. Along with that, we had the scones which were filled with strawberries and raspberries and had some whipped cream on the side. The scones went perfect with our coffee. Although we weren't interested that morning, they do offer a selection of breakfast sandwiches or breakfast burritos that sounded good. The service was very friendly and helpful there.

Banyan is open until about two in the afternoon and they are open Monday through Saturday. However, one of the girls working there said they would soon be open on Sundays. Also, they offer a lunch selection of sandwiches, soups, or salad, along with various bakery items. This is a very comfortable atmosphere to bring a book along and pass a couple of hours.

You missed the best part of the Banyan, the food. Everything is always fresh, creative and delicious. Go back and try the soups and the sandwiches. You won't be sorry.

I have been back there for the food. One morning I went I had one of the breakfast sandwiches. I had egg, spinach, and cheese on Cuban bread and that was absolutely delicious. I also had one of their homemade scones again, the blueberry scone. The homemade scones there are irresistible. I definitely will go try their lunch one of these days. Once I try the lunch there, I will put my experience in the comment section of this post. From the amount of people always there, I expect lunch will be great, also. Do you have any favorite menu items there?

Hmmmm....I'll check it out sometime. I was there on Saturday morning for breakfast and found out that they are serving omelettes with a choice of fillings and bread alongside. I love the toasty cuban bread. I am happy to say they make eggs so that they taste like eggs and I loved them.

Also, if I understood correctly, they will be soon having a rotating variety of egg benedicts. Soon they will be open on Sunday's, so I am looking forward to that.

Have they changed? We ordered the turkey sandwich.. Bread was stale, the turkey tasted like cold publix brand! I thought they roasted their own meats? I love their lunches but I sense some short cuts are being taken with their quality

I have to be honest, I have yet to try their lunch. I was there again for breakfast this last Saturday, when they have build your own omelette, and it was just great. The apricot scone was good, too. I have yet to try the same scone twice because whenever I am there, they have a new flavor. I keep telling myself I need to make it there for lunch one day, but it is kind of my breakfast place. As for roasting their own meats, I am not sure. Hopefully, that just a one time experience.

LOOOVE everything of theirs! I love how they're always mixing it up with specials and sides. They do roast all the meats too. You can see them doing it in the mornings sometimes. I love the family feel that I get from the owners and staff. Such a great little place, must try!
